2025 Advocacy Committee Goals

Goal DescriptionGoal Objectives
Decrease gun violence deaths and injuries by:
  1. Disseminate injury prevention information to families through pediatricians by:
    • Support for advocating for Medicaid reimbursement for injury prevention and violence prevention counseling
    • Raising awareness of current options for coding for this type of counseling
  2. Actively engage with legislators via email, phone calls, and in person events
  3. Participate in National Injury Prevention Day including social media
  4. Engage with Safe Kids (Columbus and statewide)
  5. Engage Resilient Georgia’s support
  6. Create video for pediatrician’s waiting room
  7. Distribute gun locks
  8. Support HB 1

    “A Bill to be entitled an Act to amend Part 3 of Article 4 of Chapter 11 of Title 16 of the Official Code of Georgia annotated, relating to carrying and possession of firearms, so as to establish the offense of making a firearm accessible to a child; to provide for definitions; to provide for exceptions and affirmative defenses; to provide for criminal penalties; to require a notice by certain firearm dealers; to provide for a short title; to provide for related matters; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other purposes.”
